Intel Alder Lake and Raptor Lake PCH infills appear on SATA website

Recently, an Intel employee posted compliance information on the SATA-I / S for their future platform controller hubs which will be part of both the 12 generation Alder Lake processor, but also the 13th generation Raptor Lake processor. One would assume that with the two submissions at the same time, Raptor Lake would certainly be the successor to the Alder Lake line. The information provided to SATA-IO presents specific device identifiers for Alder Lake and Raptor Lake – device identifiers 7AB0 to 7ACB as well as 7A30 to 7A4B.

The LGA1700 socket will be a feature for the two future series of computer processors, and they will also use fifth-generation DDR5 and PCIe hardware. Raptor Lake is expected to enhance Intel’s already advanced hybrid technology, enable LPDDR5X memory support, and will be available on desktop and mobile platforms. Sources at VideoCardz obtained listings from Intel’s website when the company released embargo documents that were not to be seen publicly on the website. Since the accidental leak, the information has been removed from Intel’s listings.

There is speculation that the new Intel Raptor Lake processor series will be available as early as the fourth quarter of 2022 instead of the third quarter of the same year as we recently reported last month. AMD is set to launch its Zen4 processor series just before Intel is ready to launch the Raptor Lake line.

AMD’s Zen4 processor series, named “Raphael”, will use the base 5nm Zen 4 architecture, with a 6nm chip design. There are also rumors that AMD will increase the number of cores and increase the IPC gain by 25% and achieve clock speeds of up to 5 gigahertz compared to their previous series of Zen3 CPUs.

As AMD and Intel prepare for their next generation of mainframe processors to be released in the latter half of 2022, especially as the holiday season approaches, both companies are expected to post a larger increase in profits compared to in recent years due to the development of newer technology at a time of year that is extremely strategic for most consumers.
