Cristal Group, Inc., a leading designer and manufacturer of rugged computer and electronic hardware, is pleased to announce the 2021 winners of its Crystal Group Innovation Grant. Marcus B. Walker is a junior marketing student at Florida Atlantic University, and Sam Wang is a chemical engineering student at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities.

Recipients of the 2021 innovation grants
Marcus B. Walker is a junior at Florida Atlantic University pursuing his BBA in Marketing and Advertising. At the age of 15, he founded DriveAndBeDriven LLC, an automotive media production company. As editor-in-chief, Marcus creates highly detailed reviews of the newest vehicles on the market. Currently, Marcus is an EV Brand Experience Marketing Intern at General Motors. He also recently accepted an internship at Tesla’s LA Design Studio for fall 2021. After graduating in 2022, Marcus will pursue his MBA. Going forward, Marcus aspires to accelerate innovation in the areas of sustainability and autonomous mobility.
Sam Wang is a senior at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities with a major in chemical engineering. In his first year, Sam was selected to be a project engineer for Engineers Without Borders and traveled to Paraxaj, Guatemala, to set up a water distribution system for a village of indigenous people who do not had no access to fresh water. From this experience, Sam found his passion to use engineering to move the company forward. During his graduate years, Sam immersed himself in the technology industry as a process engineering intern at Seagate Technology. In this role, he led multi-million dollar projects with production and R&D teams, achieving corporate sustainability and financial goals. After graduation, Sam plans to pursue a career that leverages his technological expertise to advance business and society.
Crystal Group Innovation Grant
The Crystal Group Innovation Scholarship recognizes the academic achievement, leadership, and participation in academic and community activities of two full-time students pursuing an undergraduate degree in business, engineering or a related major. Fellows receive a one-time scholarship of $ 1,000 payable directly to the institution where they are registered. Details of the 2022 innovation grant will be published on crystalrugged.com/bourses.
