Brother has confirmed an issue that affects many of the company’s printers on devices running Microsoft’s Windows 11 operating system. Printers may not be detected correctly by the operating system if the printer is connected to the device via USB, according to Brother. Brother recommends using a different connection method, if available, to resolve the issue. Printers can support connections over Wi-Fi or other ports, such as printer and non-USB ports.

The company has published two support pages, one for laser printers and one for inkjet printers, which it will update regularly with status updates. Brother analyzes several of its printing applications, including Presto! Page manager, Presto! ImageFolio, PaperPort and BookScan & WhiteBoard Suite to find out if they are fully compatible with Microsoft’s Windows 11 operating system.

Brother users may also receive the error “Cannot print to USB printer” when using the USB connection repair tool. Other programs may also display error messages after upgrading to Windows 11 when you try to print or communicate with the installed printer. The list has been published here.

Our colleagues from Desktop modifier managed to resolve the issue by disconnecting the USB connection, removing all drivers and the printer itself using Device Manager, restarting Windows 11, installing the drivers again, and reconnecting the printer via USB.

Microsoft has yet to officially acknowledge the problem.

Now you: what printers do you use? have you noticed any issues lately? (Going through Beeping computer)
